Pre & post-event massage in Reading, PA
Race week and the days after an event call for different work than a regular maintenance session. Pre-event massage primes tissue without leaving you flat; post-event massage helps you recover and get back to training. Because I'm mobile across Reading and Berks County, the table comes to you — no driving on tired legs.
When should I get a massage before a race or competition?
Light, brisk, non-invasive work is fine in the final 24–48 hours — it's aimed at circulation and readiness, not change. Deeper corrective work should happen five or more days out, so your body has time to adapt before you ask it for max effort. If you're unsure, book the session and tell me the event date; the timing dictates the work.
Pre-event: prime, don't dig
Short, faster-paced techniques that warm tissue, take joints through range, and leave you feeling springy. This is not the day for deep tissue work — that's for the training block, not race week.
Post-event: flush and reset
After the event, the goal is calming the nervous system and restoring circulation to worked muscle: a recovery flush with lighter pressure, gentle assisted stretching, and attention to anything that flared up on course. Within a day or two of a hard effort, lighter is better; save aggressive work for later in the week.
Between events, ongoing sports massage is what actually keeps the niggles from becoming injuries — event work is the bookend, not the base.
Sessions are priced by time, not by modality: $120 / 60 min, $180 / 90 min, or $240 / 120 min — travel is free within 15 miles of Reading. See full pricing.
